Cybersecurity Workforce Development… in action and impacting lives!
For the third year in a row, WiCyS is pleased to announce that the tried-and-true Security Training Scholarship made possible by Google, Bloomberg and Meta is open for registration. Those selected will participate in a proven pathway to launch and advance in their cybersecurity careers through skills development via the SANS Institute. The scholarship is awarded to WiCyS members who are seeking cybersecurity employment within the next 1.5 years. The program is designed for aspiring cybersecurity professionals, to close the cyber skills gap and increase diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the workforce. 100% of past program alumni achieving SANS GIAC certification were employed within six months of completion.

Build and leverage the power of community.
During each stage of the scholarship, a cohort is established with professional mentors and peers to help guide and support recipients. This network will be there through every step of the scholarship experience to lean in on. The collective strength of all involved is priceless. Final scholarship recipients will have AMAs (Ask Me Anything) with cybersecurity professionals at Google, Bloomberg and Meta.

50/30: Jen Easterly's statement at the WiCyS 2022 conference regarding the low percentage of women in cybersecurity:

“What’s wrong with this picture? The world is really missing out,” Easterly said at the WiCyS 2022 conference. “So, the reason that I came here today in person to spend time with all of you, is I want to charge all of us with a super ambitious goal and I need your help. We need to get to 50 percent of women in cybersecurity by the year 2030 … because without more women in our field, we know we are missing out on incredible talent.”
